Where Books Begin, LLC., was founded in 1992 as a well-baby clinic for new trade book projects by Ellen E. M. Roberts. Roberts served as an acquisitions editor for major New York publishers, including St. Martin's Press, William Morrow, and Prentice-Hall. She was also a sales manager for Columbia University Press. At Where Books Begin, she shepherded over a thousand books to publication for forty different publishers.
In 2009, Roberts established a memoir publishing program at Where Books Begin called Woodley Books. This program not only helps authors develop memoir manuscripts, it also launches the finished book into the trade book marketplace.
A hallmark of the Woodley Books' approach is collaboration between the author and the dozen specialists who bring a book to publication--illustrators, photographers, archivists, researchers, copy editors, foreign agents, designers, proof-readers, manufacturing buyers, publicists, sales representatives, and library promotion experts.
Roberts draws on her forty years of book publishing experience to bring the right team to your project.
